Prohibit the Mayor’s Office from demanding a permit for photographers and filmmakers in NYC

Being an amateur photographer in NYC is definitely not easy, when every two second you are interrupted by tourists and rubberneckers. Now the Mayor’s Office even “would require any group of two or more people who want to use a camera in a public place for more than 30 minutes to get a city permit and $1 million in liability insurance” /New York Times. Just to set up a tripod and get your shot framed can take up to 30 minutes, and it’s nice to have someone to assist you with your luggage.

The Evil Empire is coming to get you

So, is Murduch buying the Wall Street Journal going to put an end to impartial journalism at the WSJ? When AOL bought Time Warner I was in the market for a new job. I used to work for HBO in Hungary back in the early 90s. I had the urge to go back and work for them when I came to New York. Now, that urge vanished when I heard of the AOL merger. Since I was still in the middle of interviewing, I ended up applying for a Quark teaching position (?) at Time, and the HR person listed a free AOL dial-up account as a freebie, if I work there. Boy, I already had cable! If that was the added value to the job, who know what the company is all about…
